History
Excel Apparatus Services, Inc. opened its doors May 10, 1990 shortly after Doug Hinson and Charlie Stutts purchased the business from General Electric. The business consisted of approximately 2 ½ acres of land and a 12,000 square foot building with numerous pieces of electrical and machine shop equipment. Excel's development of professional services groups, such as vibration analysis, infrared scanning and laser alignment enabled the company to grow. In September 1996, Excel moved to the Charleston Naval Base. This move allowed for increased crane and equipment capacity along with an increase in square footage to 75,000.
